Oven Mitt Baseball...

Oven Mitt Baseball is a great way to pass time on a rainy day. Using a pair of socks for a ball, the boys enjoyed playing catch in the living room on Monday while it rained cats and dogs here in Ada! They even used their knights armor for "protective gear." It was pretty entertaining.

I love it when they find creative ways to play together! This particular game was inspired by the biography Levi just finished reading on Babe Ruth. He said, "This is how the poor kids played baseball in the 30's, Mom. They used oven mitts cause they couldn't afford baseball gloves!" His creative play has been inspired by literature all of his life. I remember when we were reading books about trucks when he was little. When we were finished, he would almost always go grab the nearest toy truck he had and begin to put his imagination to work. We played David and Goliath quite a bit after bible story time, too. That seems like lifetimes ago. Now it's the autobiography of Babe Ruth, read on his own time- not in my lap, rocking in the nursery. Where did the time go?
